Gynecologist (female)
Hospital:
The gynecology department offers the following:
· Urogynaecology
It concerns problems of the female urinary and genital tract. As they are close together, there can often be coexistent disorders such as Urinary Incontinence, Recurrent Urinary infections/cystitis or Prolapse.
Cervical screening is a method of preventing cancer by detecting and treating early abnormalities which, if left untreated, could lead to cancer in a woman´s cervix (the neck of the womb).
· Colposcopy
A colposcopy is usually carried out when a regular cervical screening test shows up some abnormal changes in the cells of the cervix. Many women have abnormal smears and this does not mean you have cancer, but that small changes have been found that need further investigation. A Colposcopy will feel similar to having a regular cervical screening test, but allows the colposcopist to see an enlarged 3-D view of the cervix, and find out if treatment is required.
· Sexual Health and Reproductive Advice
Clinics are held at a number of convenient locations, providing information and advice on issues such as contraception and sexual health.
Early pregnancy advice women up to 15 weeks pregnant may attend a clinic if they are experiencing symptoms such as bleeding, pain, or have had previous miscarriages. The clinics will provide assessment and advice on problems of early pregnancy
Candidate’s profile:
Graduate of a recognized medical school and approved specialty training in Gynecology
Minimum three (3) years of practical experience at consultant level
Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills with patients, staff and other physicians
Fluency in English
Urologist
Hospital:
The Urology department offers the following:
The service deals with the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the Kidney, Bladder, Prostate and reproductive organs. Around 40% of the work of urology services is cancer-related. The urology team is made up of urology surgeons, anesthetist’s, nursing staff, imaging staff, allied health professionals and administration staff.
Candidate’s profile:
Graduate of a recognized medical school and approved specialty training in Urology
Minimum three (3) years of practical experience at consultant level
Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills with patients, staff and other physicians
Fluency in English
Anesthesiologist
Hospital:
The Anesthetic service is responsible for anesthesia in operating theatres, the management of pain relief and the general care of patients before, during and after operations.
Pain Services:
Acute Pain Service: Patients may experience acute pain after they have had an operation. Anesthesiologists, assisted by specialist pain nurses, will manage a patient’s acute pain.
Chronic Pain Service: Patients with chronic pain, such as back pain or musculoskeletal disorders, may be referred to a pain clinic which offers a number of treatments to assist with controlling pain.
Acute Pain Service: Patients may experience acute pain after they have had an operation. Anesthesiologists, assisted by specialist pain nurses, will manage a patient’s acute pain.
Chronic Pain Service: Patients with chronic pain, such as back pain or musculoskeletal disorders, may be referred to a pain clinic which offers a number of treatments to assist with controlling pain.
Theatres:
Operating theatres provide elective services and 24 hour emergency services to all specialties. Patients may be admitted to hospital for planned surgery as an inpatient, either the day before surgery or the day of surgery. Patients may also have their surgery undertaken as a day case.
The Sterile Services departments support the operating theatres by processing surgical instrumentation.

Pre-Operative assessment aims to assess each patient’s fitness for surgery and general anesthetic. This service is mostly delivered by nurses, however Consultant Anesthesiologists may also provide expert advice.

Anesthesiologist
Hospital:
The Accident and Emergency Department (A&E) is open 24-hours a day, every day, to assess and treat patients with critical and life-threatening illnesses and injuries such as chest pain, severe abdominal pain, serious infections, fractures and other injuries.
The A&E provides a walk-in service, however you should only visit A&E in the case of real emergencies. Going straight to A&E in the case of a non-emergency can put the department and the hospital under added pressure. The unnecessary use of A&E could prevent someone whose condition is more serious from getting immediate treatment.
